Most of you are probably aware by now that the club is going to be extremely busy over the next few months and this is an early warning that we will need YOUR support.
March 8: Our Borders League fixture. Venue not yet finalised but we will need marshals, finish officials etc.
February 21: Welsh Cross-Country Championships at Rhug, Corwen. This is being hosted by Welsh Athletics but we are being asked to provide marshals as a lot of help will be needed on the day. Some will also help mark the course the previous day.
March 14 : British Masters’ Cross-Country Championships at Ruthin School. This is a huge event and a very prestigious one for the club. Five years ago the club attracted huge praise for its hosting of this meeting and we need a huge turnout of members as marshals, car-park attendants, runners (taking the sheets from the finish to the results compiler), etc. as well as help before the day in erecting signs, dismantling a fence and marking the course. Ideally, marshals etc should be available to attend a briefing the previous Saturday (March 7th).
Please don’t wait to be asked but volunteer your services.
Having said all that, if members want to run in either of the championships they should feel free to do so. Last time our L45 team won bronze in the Masters’ championships.”
