Gravy Train 6

A trip to the Peak District proved a hit both from the running and social points of view for members of Prestatyn Running Club.

Twenty-four members travelled to Hadfield, near Glossop, for the Gravy 6 trail run in the Longdendale valley and it proved to be the biggest representation present from any club.

Dean Longley led the contingent home in 12th place overall but his pleasure at his performance was marred when he realised that all finishers did not receive a sample of the famous gravy.

The only prize winner from the club was 16-year-old Amie Bagnall who was first Junior Lady home, but there were also high age-group placings for Des Davies (2nd M50), Gareth Hughes (3rd M60) and Phil Jones (3rd M65)

Special credit is due to both Des and Glenda Davies as both had competed in the Moel Siabod fell-race the previous day, but every single member had a decent run over what was a very attractive course. The whole occasion was so enjoyable that the trip looks likely to be repeated next year

On the Fells

With this Saturday’s Snowdon International race in her sights club captain Glenda Davies had morale-boosting performances in both the Moel Siabod event and last week’s Druids race from Llanferres, the second in the Clwydian Hills series. In both events she finished close on the heels of the in-form Des.

At Siabod she was third L40 and in the Druids race was third lady overall and second L45. The Llanferres race also marked the debuts on the fells of David Owen and Eleri Goddard, both of whom coped admirably with the tough climbs.
