John Hughes Roberts Man of the Month

AFTER a steady but noticeable improvement in recent weeks on road and country John Hughes-Roberts has been named as Prestatyn Running Club’s Runner of the Month for November.

Though 14 club members were included in the North Wales team for this Sunday’s Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships in Builth Wells some are unavailable and others have chosen not to travel, so the teams turning out for the Border League fixture in the Wirral will not be as under-strength as first feared.

Some had hoped to loosen up for this weekend by turning out in last Sunday’s Helena Tipping 10k in Wrexham, but it was called off because of the icy conditions.

The club’s pre-Christmas handicap will be held on December 18 and will involve a 7k run. Any members unable or not wishing to run are asked to come along to help officiate. All runners are asked to bring a prize worth about £2.50 which would be suitable for a man or woman, so that everyone takes away a prize of the same value.

On December 22 the draw will be made for the club’s two places in next year’s London Marathon. Those wishing to enter the draw should notify Gareth Hughes and produce their rejection slips, but as yet only one member has expressed an interest.
