Dear Gareth,

Just a quick word to thank everyone at Prestatyn Running Club for the huge part they played in ensuring the success of the Rhug Organic North Wales Cross-Country Championships on Saturday, January 29th, 2011

“The course on the Rhug Estate is perfect for a championships event and your volunteers had set everything out perfectly, with all the athletes united in praise, although one or two (perhaps non-swimmers) were not sure about the stream!

“On the day the marshals, under the direction of Jason Burton, did their work superbly but no-one was surprised as, over the years, your club has built up a reputation for being meticulous in your preparation so that nothing can go wrong on the day.

“It would be unfair not to mention the part you as an indeividual play in the organisation of these events. If Gareth Hughes says he will be responsible for our championships I know that I don’t need to worry. As secretary of the club you take control but you are aware that you by now delegate certain jobs to other members, knowing through experience that they will not let you down.

“At these championships two teams worked superbly side by side to make sure everything went to plan. My team look after the registration, recording, timekeeping etc and have worked together for many years, while your team concentrate on the important work out on the course and, by now, are rated second to none by other clubs in our area.

“The downside, of course, is that because you are so good other clubs and our athletes want to come back years after year after year. If Prestatyn Running Club and Lord Newborough agree I would like to return to Corwen in 2012, but we shall see another day.

“This letter only looks back at the 2011 championships and at a successful afternoon made possible by the efforts of members at Prestatyn Running Club.

The event once again proved a huge success and massive credit is due to the Prestatyn members and others who marshalled the scenic course so brilliantly under the guidance of chief marshal Jason Burton.
