PRESTATYN Running Club’s evergreen veteran Griff Owens was again in superb form in last week’s Warrington 10k, where he was not only the first M60 home but also beat all the M50 runners.

He finished 25th overall in a 251-strong field in 37.51, and the only other Prestatyn representative, M70 Roger Harrison-Jones, was 182nd in 51.28.

Eight members turned out in the Hotfoot up Famau fell-race in the Clwydians, which was a counter in the club’s Grand Prix, and for the first two home, Dean Longley and Lee Bailey, it was their first venture onto the fells.

For super-vet David Owen it was his third fell-race in five days, having done the 3 Hills race at Penmaenmawr the previous evening and the Moel Hebog race the previous weekend.

The club placings in the Moel Famau race were: 45 Dean Longley 45.11, 46 Lee Bailey 45.15, 48 Chris Hayes 45.30, 70 Brenda Tiedtke 50.09 (3rd L40), 77 David Owen 52.43 (3rd M60), 82 Glenda Davies 54.32 (2nd L50), 87 Steve Hatfield 55.15, 103 Jason Burton 75.29.

Almost 30 members have now signed up for the trip to the Gravy 6 Run in Glossop on July 17 but there are still a couple of places left . The race entry fee is £5 and the fare will be £10.

It has now been confirmed that the club will again be hosting the North Wales Cross-Country Championships at Rhug, Corwen, on January 28, 2012, and the event will not be affected by the major redevelopment taking place at the venue.
