quiet Weekend for Members
The four took part in the Ras yr Aran from Llanuwchllyn, a 10-mile event involving 3,100 feet of climbing. Chris Hayes, who has really taken to the fells, suffered cramp but kept going thanks to some chocolate from a friendly walker.
This Friday ((25th)) the club’s AGM will be held at Offa’s Tavern, starting at 7.30pm, and on March 29 there will be a sports quiz at the North Wales Indoor Bowls Centre, starting at 7pm. The quiz is open to anyone and teams of up to four persons can be made up on the night.
On Sunday it is hoped that both the men’s and ladies’ teams will be at full strength for the penultimate race in the Borders League at Deeside. Both have special reason to turn in strong performances, as the men could still avoid relegation from Division 1 while the women could yet gain promotion to the top flight. There was disappointment this week with the news that the club has not been granted a place in this year’s Welsh Castles Relay, which is regarded by many members as one of the highlights of the calendar. The event has become so popular and places are limited, that 20 clubs are missing out. Matthew Anwyl has been named as Runner of the Month for February following his 1-23 clocking in the Wrexham half-marathon and being first man home for the club in the Border League in Christleton.
Members are reminded of the AGM on March 25 at Offa’s Tavern, the sports quiz on March 29 and the annual social on April 2, tickets for which are now available. |
