Neil Owen in the International Snowdon Race It was his first attempt at the event and had not had long to train for it, so was not too dissatisfied with his time of 1-37.06, which gave him seventh place in the M55 class. Like many, he found the descent tough, especially in the warm conditions. All the runners were had to leave their watches behind for the run and estimate their finishing times, with Mike Lindsay taking the prize after getting his time right to the exact second. Grand Prix Glenda Davies has already opened a substantial gap over the rest of the pack in the race for the club’s Grand Prix title which she won last year. After seven races she has 114 points, 22 more than Gordon Jones, who is currently out of action for a while. The leading placings are: Glenda Davies 114 points from 7 races, Gordon Jones 92/5, George Nicholls 77/6, Brenda Tiedtke 63/5, Shelley Ward 49/3, Dean Longley 45/3, Griff Owens 45/3, Des Davies 40/4, Sharon Jones 35/4, Steve Hatfield 35/5, David Owen 34/4. Forthcoming races in the competition are: July 27 Green, Green Grass of Home; August 4 Deestriders’ Off-Road Series; August 29 Moel Fammau race; September 4 Caernarfon 10k; September 11 Ras Fawr Llanddoged.
