It was Ladies’ Day so far as the club was concerned at the Twin Piers 10k on Saturday, and they flew the club flag in style.
For some reason only two men turned out in the event, in which the runners were buffetted by strong winds along the prom from Llandudno to Colwyn Bay.
It certainly affected the times, but the six ladies managed to come away with three individual awards and, for the third successive year, the team prize.

Club captain Glenda Davies again led the squad home in 92nd place with a time of 45.54, taking first prize in the L50 class. Gay Waring107th overall in 47.34, for second place in the same category, and 16-year-old Amie Bagnall came through strongly to win the U20 category in 48.42. The fourth team member was Brenda Tiedtke, who was 122nd in 48.49, and she was followed by Eleri Goddard (160th in 51.41) and Eleri Jones (164th in 51.51).
With his son Oliver unable to start due to illness Gareth Harrison-Jones flew the family flag alone, and, returning to form, was 97th in 46.31. The only other Prestatyn male was David Owen, who continued his steady improvement to take 152nd place in 51.16. Though he finished third in his class there was unfortunately no award.
Griff Owens, who was unable to run in Saturday’s race after illness, tops the North Wales road rankings in his M60 age-group for all distances in 2010 – 5k, 5m, 10k, 10m and half-marathon. The provisional placings are now available and any member wishing to check his/her record is asked to contact Gareth Hughes within the next two weeks,
This Saturday brings a return to cross-country League action and the long trip to Lilleshall. A minibus will leave Ruthin Rugby Club at 11am and anyone interested in travelling is asked to notify Gareth Hughes or Steve Hatfield.
