Letter from Philip Lee, BMAF Cross-Country Secretar.

 “Dear Prestatyn Running Club

On behalf of the BMAF, Welsh Masters Athletic Association and all the runners involved in the recent BMAF Cross-Country Championships I would like to say a big Thank You for the tremendous effort you pit into the organization of the event.

The event was an outstanding success and I have received nothing but compliments from all those competed and took the trouble to thank me afterwards. I know how much effort you put into making the event such a success and it was because of this tremendous effort that the runners were able to enjoy the day.

I know it was a team effort as seeing all those officials dressed in their club fleeces helped to emphasise how many were involved in the organization.

However, if I can be permitted, I would like to thank some individuals with whom I had contact, whilst not denigrating the work you all did in making the day run so efficiently.

I would like to thank Gareth Hughes for all that he did to make my involvement so easy. I would especially like to mention his quick co-operation in getting the entry form completed and returned to me. There are times in the past when I have struggled to have the local input included by January. Gareth had it returned in time for the Autumn edition of Masters Athletics.

A big thank-you must go to Gill who diligently took all the entries and soon realized that it wasn’t as easy a task as it should have been when having to deal with so many individuals. I know many runners would have appreciated her kindness in allowing them entry when the closing date was well past.

A special thanks goes to Sean and his son for producing such an accurate and swift set of results. This was emphasized by the fact that I was on my way home by 3.30pm when, at other times, it has been much later in the day, and I have received no complaints from runners about the accuracy of the results. I know he is not a member of your club but if you could pass on my thanks I would be most grateful.

So thank you once again Prestatyn Running Club for all the work you put in before, during and after the BMAF Championships. You should be very proud of a job extremely well done. Myself and many others really appreciated all that you did.

Yours in sport.

Gareth,

Just a quick personal note to say well done to you and all of Prestatyn Harriers for putting on a superb show (including the weather) on Saturday. I have been to many BMAF events and I can honestly say that the Cross Country Champs on Saturday were as well organised as any I have come across . In addition the friendliness that the club members brought to the event made it even more special. As Welsh Masters Cross Country Team Manager these days I obviously know most of the top runners and those I talked to were very happy with everything.

You and your club should be very proud of what you achieved on Saturday.

Well done

Just a quick note to congratulate everyone at Prestatyn Running Club for the excellent job you did in organising last Saturday’s BMAF Cross Country Championship at Ruthin

I think everyone feels that you did the region proud as North Wales showed once again that whenever they take on a prestigious cross country event it is always a successful meeting

You yourself must take a great deal of credit as the overall orgnaniser, Gareth, but I know will be delighted with the splendid support you received from your club members. Are we surprised? –no. not at all, because it seems to happen time and time again.

The venue is ideal for cross country and, when everyone works together; it is almost inevitable that everything will go like clockwork. We know it is not as easy as that but we also know that surrounded by a good team anything is possible.

It was a privilege to be involved in a splendid event and I’m really pleased that the club received a great bonus on the day – bronze team medal in the over 45 ladies section. BRILLIANT – the icing n the cake.

Congratulations, Prestatyn Running Club

Yours very sincerely.

David
