Adroddiadau Aelodau y Pwyllgor /Committee Members Report
Chairman’s Report/ Adroddiad y Cadeirydd
Here we are Autumn already out training in the wet weather and putting extra layer of clothing on to keep warm and of course well into the cross country season
This is the time of the year we had rather taken an indoor sport instead but there is nothing better than getting wet and muddy.
I would like to thank all runners who have turned out in the first two races at Colwyn Bay and Bangor where our women have shown improvement with more runners racing this winter and men we have had a few runners missing at the top end but the team has performed well and still have a chance of catching up in the next three fixtures.
On October 27th it was Prestatyn RC 20th anniversary
At Bangor in 1990 Prestatyn Men won a NWCCL League fixture the only time in the club history I remember that day it was on a diffrent course on the Menai straight it was raining very heavy the course was waterlogged and we had a nasty brook to cross at the bottom of the hill
The team result on that day was Prestatyn 102 Wrexham 134 Bridgnorth 164 Eryri 174 Colwyn Bay 253 Telford 258 Vets Prestatyn 8 NWRRC 29 Wrexham 29
The runners 3 Simon Shiels 10 Kenny Woodhouse 13 Griff Owens 15 Paul Robson 29 Richard Washbrook 32 Pete Roberts 33 George Nixon 35 Richard Robson 43 Jason Aspden 49 Alan James
69 Fred Jones 83 Ron Harrison Jones 104 Arwel Jones 120 Steve Hatfield 128 David A Jones 136 Alan Parfitt 148 Brian Evans
Unfortunately we fell short on winning the League that season finishing second the only time the club has finished in the top three in its history
The Vets team were champions that season
I would also like to congratulate our cross country captain on becoming a father and hopefully he will back in action running again soon, also to our ladies captain on her very special birthday recently and David Hughes on his selection for Wales in Dublin
I would also like members to support the training groups on Monday and Wednesday both have training programmes which have been design to improve your running . If you live locally to Prestatyn why make a special effort to attend this winter and you might see the benefit.
Coming up soon we have three events Barn Dance at the Melyd masonic hall at Meliden,a new Handicap race about 7km please support as everyone has a chance of winning, and the annual Xmas social at the Melyd Club the Wednesday before christmas were we run as a group and have a buffet and a drink after the run and draw for a London Marathon place for those who were unlucky to have the rejection letters.
And finally congratulate Gareth on his off track award in Cardiff recently in Cardiff a great honour for a small club
Keep on running
Arwel
