Racing with Prestatyn Running Club
We have a large number of members who take part in lots of different types of races. Take a look below to see if you are interested in joining the red army, do ask any of our team for more info
Road Running
There are a large number of road races in the racing calendar for runners to choose from. Some of our favourites include the Chester 10k, the Nick Beer, Pier to Pier, and the Conwy Half Marathon.
The club competes in the Borders Road Running League. These races are free to enter for club members who are registered with Welsh Athletics. There are 7 Borders League races between October and April each year.
Cross Country
Every year the club take part in the North Wales Cross Country League These races are free to enter for first-claim members who are registered with Welsh Athletics. There are 5 cross-country races between October and April each year, which can be very muddy but great fun. Individuals and teams enter North Wales and Welsh Championships and the Welsh (and British) Masters
Fell Running
Over recent years our members have formed a strong fell-running team. There are a lot of fell races in the area including the Clwydian summers series, Dash in the Dark, Pipe Dream, and The Horse, some of which are run in the dark. The club also participates in the North Wales and Welsh Fell Running Championships. Our fell runners are always on the look out for other runners to join the team, so if you are interested, do speak to any of the team
Off Road Running
We also enjoy lots of off-road runs, both social & races. Every year the club has a great turn out at one of our favourite off-road race series, Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix. A series of 4 races over tracks and fields always has a great atmosphere & is a great introduction to anyone who wants to try off road racing. Other off-road races that we all enjoy are Race the Train and The Fairy Freckle Cow Trail.
During the summer months, our evening club sessions often take us off road along the tracks and trails around Prestatyn, and our Sunday Social runs take us further afield to enjoy new scenery and challenges

Ultra Runs
Some of our runners also take part in Ultra Runs. There are quite a few local ultras in North Wales with Sea-to-Summit being a popular run for beginners, which starts at the Nova in Prestatyn.
The Firelighter on Anglesey is also popular, as is the Pen Llyn Summer Ultras over 50, 75 & 100km. There are also several ultra races that take place in and around Snowdonia for those who love views and a bit of a scamble!
