FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When and where do you train?

We train on a Monday & a Wednesday evening, meeting at 6.30pm.  Our current schedule sees us meeting at the Ffrith Fun Parc Bowling carpark on a Monday evening and at Prestatyn High School carpark on a Wednesday evening.  This schedule does change throughout the year, so do check back for updates.

What do the training sessions entail?

We run a variety of routes and mix in some speed work and hill work.  During the winter, our routes are all in well-lit areas on roads with wide pavements.  During the summer months we have some lovely off-road routes that we all enjoy

Will I be able to keep up?

We have lots of different paced runners so we are sure we can find someone of a similar pace to match you up with to start with.  We do have a few stops on our routes to allow you to get your breath back if needed and we make sure that we never leave anyone behind.  We all had to start somewhere and all of our runners are very encouraging and will be pleased to support you.

Our 'Back to Running' Group runs a short route on club nights to enable those who have been injured or away from running for some time, to ease back into club running at a more comfortable pace for their needs.

What do I need to bring with me?

Wear comfortable running clothes which take into account the weather conditions.  During the winter it is necessary to wear hi-vis clothing to keep yourself and your fellow runners safe

What if I can't attend every session?

It doesn't matter if you can't make it to every session, just turn up when you can

Do I need to be a member to come to club sessions

We do encourage people to come along to a couple of sessions to see if they like us and to see if the sessions are suitable.  After that, if you wish to continue,  we do ask that you join the club.

What are the advantages of joining the club

  • Running with like-minded people who are friendly and encouraging, will really help you improve your running.  It is also safer to run in a group rather than alone

  • You will be able to run for Prestatyn Running Club in races and wear our red vest.  You are also eligible to compete in the Border League races and the North Wales Cross Country League, which are free races for clubs

  • Being a member of a running club and affiliated with Welsh Athletics, you also receive reduced entry to many other races (usually a £2 reduction)

Where can I buy club vests and kit

Club kit can be purchased using the link below

What type of races does the club get involved in?

Lots of our members get involved in running races.  We usually have groups of runners in all the local races and some further afield.  These include parkruns, road races, marathons, cross country races, fell races, and ultra runs.  There is something for everyone and club members often team up to train for the long distance runs
