The weather was the undoubted winner at the weekend when several local Parkruns on New Year’s Day and Saturday had to be cancelled. Among the victims was the Nova run which faced the double threat of ice and a high tide. On New Year’s Day 18 members of Prestatyn Running Club found alternative venues and three actually recorded pbs in Greenfield Valley. Their results were: 2 Dave Ellis 19.28 (pb), 9 Dafydd Montgomery 21.33, 19 Oliver Birch-Jones 23.17 (pb), 20 Helen Ashworth (

Press Report - 28th December 2025
The days of putting one’s feet up and gorging oneself over the Christmas break are a thing of the past for most members of Prestatyn Running Club and some even took the opportunity to get a couple of extra races under their belt. Not only were their strong turnouts in those Parkruns which survived the icy conditions but a record 15 club members turned out in the Round the Walls race in Chester on Boxing Day. David Ellis, Oliver Birch-Jones, Ann Claire Jones and Julie Evans we

Press Report - 15th December 2025
Saturday's Nova Parkrun resulted in an unprecedented outcome for Prestatyn Running Club, with members claiming the first four places and seven of the first 10. The perfect conditions helped three members to claim personal bests for the course, the most amazing being that of Tom Coen, who, in finishing fourth, took over two minutes off his previous best. The other two pbs were by Matty Smith and Paul Robson, both still in the process of making comebacks. The placings were: 1

After the second fixture of the Borders Road-Running League on the Mon Track in Anglesey both the men’s and women’s teams are second in Division 2, the women having come first on the day despite some absentees. Press Report 24th November 2025
A strong all-round team performance on Saturday saw Prestatyn Running Club's ladies keep alive their chance of promotion to Division 1 of the David Alun Williams North Wales Cross-Country League. The third fixture in Bala was hosted by Meirionnydd Running Club, and though the course was generally flat and surprisingly firm it contained one stretch of deep, sloppy mud. The 10-strong ladies' team finished 2nd on the day and hold that same position on aggregate with two races le

CAPTION: A happy group of members after the Conwy half-marathon The times they are a’changing for Prestatyn Running Club – and if proof were needed the weekend’s two main races provided the evidence. Of the 24 members in competitive action in Saturday’s Penmaenmawr fell-race and the following day’s Conwy half-marathon no fewer than 13 have joined the club in the past 12 months and some had not even joined when they registered for the races. Prestatyn Running Club's mother-and-daughter Cathy Wood and Rachel Jackson had cause for a double celebration at the weekend after they both set personal bests, though in very different competitions. It was mum Cathy who had the outstanding result when she returned to Gwynedd for the Pen Llyn Winter Ultra, a 36-mile event starting and finishing in Llithfaen. Cathy, who is in her element in such events, finished in 9-53.58, taking no less than one hour off her previous best fo

Marathon Eryri, justifiably described as one of the country's toughest and most scenic marathons, is either blessed with gorgeous autumnal weather or extremely testing conditions, and this year the 2,800 competitors faced the latter. The strong wind and rain were relentless, but that did not deter Prestatyn Running Club's captain Gareth Jones, who finished a brilliant 69th overall in 3-15.05, slicing a massive 36 minutes off the pb he set in 2022.
