The Bank Holiday meant that there was quality and quantity in the Nova Parkrun as runners came from far afield. Not only were there over 300 participants, but 16 finished inside 20 minutes, one of the highest percentages ever achieved. Joshua Hourihan (Stockport) quickly opened a big lead and was never challenged, while behind him Prestatyn Running Club’s Alex Ryder was engaged in a real battle with unattached runners Aaron Hill and Darren Shire before pulling clear to take

Promenade running may be flat and often fast, but strong winds over the past week presented a real challenge for competitors in local events. First members of Prestatyn Running Club to face the experience were Oliver Birch-Jones, Ben Thomas and Nicki Triggs, who travelled to the Wirral for the first in this year’s Seaside 5k series in Leasowe. There was a strong sidewind throughout, and the windblown sand made the going even tougher. It was Oliver’s first attempt in the event

A record 17 members were among the nearly 12,000 participants who lined up Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium for the Liverpool half-marathon and all had good reason to be pleased with their performances. First of the contingent home was Alex Ryder, who was making his debut at the distance and surprised even himself to finish in 1-2

Gareth's Press Report - 1st March 2026
Almost there! Prestatyn Running Club’s ladies turned in another fine team performance in Birkenhead Park on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of Division 2 of the Borders Road Running League. On the day they finished behind a very strong Wirral AC squad but with two races to go they are well-placed for promotion. In what was a good all-round showing the top performance of the day came from Erin Thomas who was first in the U20 class. The men, too, had strength in depth, w

Steve Skates grabbed the limelight with an outstanding run, coming second overall, while Oliver Birch-Jones also had a fine outing. The placings were: 2 Steve Skates

It’s always a shame when athletes have to choose between popular races, but Prestatyn Running Club’s Dafydd Montgomery overcame the problem at the weekend by doing three races in 24 hours. On Saturday morning he took things slightly easier than usual in the Nova Parkrun, still managing a respectable 20.57, then four hours later he was on the start line in Llandudno for the annual Twin Piers 10k, which incorporated the North Wales championships. Three individual golds, one individual bronze and one team silver was Prestatyn Running Club’s haul of medals from the North Wales cross-country championships at Bangor on Saturday. Considering the weather over the previous week the conditions were better than expected, but, as usual, the mud made the course challenging enough. In the senior men’s event there was a race-within-a-race as Danny Williams, Jonah Armstrong and captain Gareth Jones battled it out, eventually finish
