The weather was the undoubted winner at the weekend when several local Parkruns on New Year’s Day and Saturday had to be cancelled.
Among the victims was the Nova run which faced the double threat of ice and a high tide.

Four of the club’s ladies took part in the Wepre Parkrun in nearby Connah’s Quay. Jenna Bagnall led to quartet home in 43rd place overall, clocking 27.15, and she was followed by Cara Jones (122nd in 35.19), Helen Alefounder (127th in 35.51) and Julie Evans (183rd in 47.16).
In Ruthin Martin Cortvriend was 30th in 25.00 while in Llangollen Glenda Roberts came 64th in 29.16.
There was a massive field of over 629 in Saturday’s event in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos and again two members set new pbs for the promenade course. Inside the top 100 seven members finished within 30 seconds of each other.
The placings were: 12 Oliver Birch-Jones 19.01, 14 Dafydd Montgomery 19.05, 55 Lewis Pierce 22.01, 72 Dave Ellis 22.27, 73 Meg Lewis 22.27 (pb), 76 Jamie Betts 22.28, 77 Eve Manifold 22.29, 78 Marc Jones 22.29, 79 Zack Webster 22.30, 131 Tilly Jones 24.36, 137 Steve Weedman 24.46, 413 Debbie Weedman 32.10, 564 Julie Evans 40.38 (pb).
Once again on his travels, this time in Yorkshire, Martin Cortvriend came 63rd in the East Holmes Field Parkrun near Ilkley, which was largely off-road. His time was 25.04.
Ben Garnett was the club’s sole representative in the Newborough Run on Anglesey, finishing 6th in 20.10. while in Glenrothes (Fife) Rachael Peel came in 206th place with a time of 39.57.
This Saturday (10th) the North Wales cross-country championships are being held in Bangor, and as it has been proved on several occasions in the past that there are medals to be won, it is hoped that the club will field strong men’s and women’s teams.
