Gareth's Press Report - 12th October 2025

A week after staging the cross-country fixture in St Asaph members of Prestatyn Running Club organised another event, this time to support club member Emma Birchall.

They took over the organization of the Nova Parkrun to highlight the work of Feel, Find, Mind, the breast-cancer awareness campaign for which Emma is the driving force.

In addition to the officials there was a big turnout of club runners, with 28 of them racing or supporting other participants. There were some interesting tussles among them, with seven among the first 20 finishers.

The placings were: 3 Alex Ryder 18.29, 11 Jamie Betts 20.53, 13 Darrell Jones 21.15, 14 Dafydd Montgomery 21.24, 15 David Ellis 21.28, 17 Paul Sanders 21.38 (pb), 19 Ed Shirt 21.42, 29 Meg Lewis 23.10, 34 Lisa Lines 23.27, 38 Will Lines 23.55, 40 Neil Davidson 23.57, 48 Lewis Pierce 24.47, 56 Zack Webster 25.28, 62 Steve Weedman 25.43, 79 Andy Scott 26.44, 80 Reg Jonas 26.46, 88 Mark Dakeyne 27.18, 91 Casey Blake 27.26 (pb), 92 Tilly Jones 27.26, 112 Liz Martin 28.54, 114 Cara Jones 29.00, 143 Debbie Weedman 30.45, 156 Martin Cortvriend 31.28, 163 Ally Reid 32.13, 167 Claire Manifold 32.20, 193 Karl Martin 35.40, 267 Debbie Jones 76.29, 269 Julie Evans 76.32.

Only two other members were in Parkrun action, Tom Carter winning won the Greenfield Valley event by a huge margin, clocking 17.30. In London, Cathy Wood joined a huge field in the Fulham Palaces Parkrun, coming 371st in 31.22.

Twenty-four hours after his Nova run Zack Webster was racing again in the Manchester half-marathon where he finished in 1-44.21, taking four minutes off his pb set in Caernarfon last month.

David Hudd had mixed emotions after his effort in the Lakes in a Day 50-mile ultra, pulling out in Ambleside after 29 miles.

“I never really got going and after being out for three months with a calf injury it was probably a bridge too far,” he said.

On the plus side, he felt he had gained valuable experience and enjoyed some spectacular scenery and cloud inversions.
