Gareth's Press Report - 20th October 2025

A week after his ultra race in the Lake District Prestatyn Running Club’s David Hudd iook on a different challenge over the weekend – and it proved very fruitful.

He completed three races in just over 24 hours and picked up two awards in the process.

On Saturday he fin9ished second in the Greenfield Valley Parkrun and the following day was among several runners who ran both and Abergele 5k and, shortly afterwards, the 10k. In the 5k he was second over 50 and in the 10k was third.

In the 10k the club’s first finisher, in 10th place overall, was Dafydd Montgomery, who had placed second in the Nova Parkrun on Saturday.

The club’s 5k placings were: 17 David Hudd 20.42, 24 Zack Webster 22.03.

10k: 10 Dafydd Montgomery 29.14, 28 Chris Snow 43.03, 31 Darrell Jones 43.14 (2nd M60), 35 David Hudd 43.45 (3rd M50), 91st female Emma Standring-Jones 64.25.

Twenty-one members turned out in the Nova Parkrun and four of them recorded pbs. Some of the members acted as pacemakers for various groups while others were accompanying their offspring.

The Parkrun provided some interesting sights for the club’s long-serving members, as the finishers included three former members who are coming to form.

They were ex-Welsh internationals Katie Parry, who had a tussle with current member Lisa Lines, and Paul Robson, as well as former club stalwart Dave Henley. It was his first race for many years and he was understandably pleased with his time of 24.05.

The placings were: 2 Dafydd Montgomery 19.08, 4 Jonah Armstrong 19.23, 9 Jamie Betts 20.35, 11 Lewis Pierce 20.46, 10 Dave Ellis 21.10, 16 Lisa Lines 21.19 (pb),  21 Ed Shirt 21.35, 22 Marc Jones 21.39, 53 Neil Davidson 24.29, 60 Beth English 24.54 (pb), 67 Oliver Birch-Jones 25.15, 68 Tilly Jones 25.16 (pb), 69 Paul Sanders 25.17, 86 Philip Howarth 26.33, 89 Patrick Haberland 26.50, 102 Judah Eastwell 27.35, 104 Steve Stocker 27.37, 139 Claire Manifold 30.04 (pb), 142 Nem James 30.09, 160 Grahame Shone 31.10, 233 Claudia Smith 38.44.

Greenfield Valley: 2 David Hudd 21.35, 18 Steve Weedman 25.14, 40 Debbie Weedman 31.23.

Park in the Past (Hope): 61 Rachel Jackson 27.11.

Erddig: 100 Glenda Roberts 29.22 (pb).

Market Bosworth (Leics): 155 Clare Manley 36.47.

Sixfields Upton (Northants): 38 Martin Cortvriend 23.26.

While in Northamptonshire Martin Cortvriend was another who doubled up, competing in the Napton 10, what he described as “an old-fashioned race”, with no age-group awards.

On a hilly course he was happy to finish in 123rd place overall in 51.59.
