Having already gained promotion in one competition, Prestatyn Running Club’s ladies can take a major step next Sunday towards completing a “double”.
They ended the cross-country season on a high note in Oswestry by finishing top of Division 2 and as they go into the fourth race of the Borders Road-Running League they are in an even stronger position.
They hold a 97-point lead over second-placed Ellesmere Port but cannot afford to be complacent, especially as third-placed Wirral, who will be on home ground at Birkenhead Park on Sunday, showed last time out that they have a formidable squad.
The men, too, are having a good season and are third in the Improvers’ table and in Division 2, but probably have too much to do to achieve promotion.
With no local races last weekend it was Parkruns which filled the gap for many members and the red vests were seen at 10 different venues.
On the Nova course Alex Ryder continued his impressive sequence of runs, this time coming second, while Eve Manifold was again the first female finisher.
The placings were: 2 Alex Ryder 18.10, 7 Jonathon Puleston-Jones 19.36 (pb), 10 Dafydd Montgomery 20.06, 12 Lewis Pierce 20.16, 14 Dave Ellis 20.46, 15 Adam Jeffers 20.50, 20 Eve Manifold 21.32, 23 Robert Grima 22.01 (pb), 24 Jamie Betts 22.15, 27 Nem James 22.49 (pb), 41 Reg Jonas 24.39, 43 Ben Thomas 24.51, 84 Alice Archer 28.52, 106 Nicki Triggs 30.43, 140 Roger Harrison-Jones 36.18.
