Gareth's Press Report 3rd November 2025

Prestatyn Running Club's Tom Carter has been rewarded for his fine start to the cross-country season by being awarded another Welsh vest.

In the first two fixtures of the David Alun Williams North Wales League he finished first and then second in the M40 class, and he has been selected in that same category for the British and Irish Masters' International in Leeds on November 15.

There was a huge contrast in weather conditions for events over the weekend, with participants in Saturday's Parkruns having to contend with wind and rain.

Sixteen Prestatyn members turned out in the Nova Parkrun and whilst most battled against the headwind in the early and closing stages it did not seem to affect Alex Ryder, who claimed another victory.

Another who was apparently untroubled by the elements was Nem James, who managed to chalk up a pb.

The placings were: 1 Alex Ryder 19.11, 4 Dafydd Montgomery 20.15, 8 Jamie Betts 21.47, 13 Lisa Lines 22.46 (1st female), 14 Jonah Armstrong 22.48, 30 Nem James 24.10, 34 Jenna Bagnall 24.34, 49 Andy Thomas 25.47, 71 Reg Jonas 27.22, 77 Mark Dakeyne 27.49, 79 Gareth Hughes 27.51, 85 Andy Scott 28.47, 86 Cathy Wood 28.52, 116 Martin Cortvriend 30.42, 145 Emma Birchall 32.55, 178 Cludia Smith 36.08.

Other Parkruns:-

Conwy: 10 Ben Garnett 19.56.

Greenfield Valley: 43 Glenda Roberts 28.42, 46 Owen Gibson 29.22.

Knowsley: 29 Paul Robson 25.02.

Penrhyn: 9 David Hudd 21.16.

It was a brilliant autumn day on Sunday for the Excalibur trail races in the Clwydian hills, the 17k event involving 800m of ascent. Off-road captain Lee Bailey was in his element, finishing 5th overall in 1-42 to win the M40 category.

The club's social events continue to prove extremely popular. Last week about 40 members took to the hills and tracks of Cwm Forest to mark Halloween, and enjoyed a get-together at the Blue Lion afterwards.
