The Red Wall has been prominent in a number of venues over the past week as

members of Prestatyn Running Club have turned out in force.


On Wednesday evening 20 of them turned out in the Ruthin 5k and seven of

them were among the 24 who were in action again 48 hours later in the fourth

and final race in Deestriders' Off-Road Grand Prix in Shotton.


For Marc Jones and Nicki Triggs it was their third outing in four days,

while others followed the Friday run with appearances in Saturday Parkruns.

Marc  then made it four races in five days when setting a new pb of 1-34.41

in the Cheshire Half-Marathon on Sunday.


 Another who set a pb after a busy week was Dave Ellis, who joined the

60,000 competitors in Sunday's Great North Run. He took two minutes off his

previous best for the distance, coming 537th overall in 1-22.39.

The club completed a very successful season at Shotton on Friday, claiming

several age-group awards and again having the biggest turnout of all the

participating clubs. The race also marked the club debut of Darrell Jones,

who looks like being another useful addition to the ranks. The results and

end-of-year awards were not available at the time of going to Press.


 While several members took it relatively easy in the following morning's's

Parkruns six were up in the early hours for the flight and an appearance in

the scenic Newton Abbey Parkrun near Belfast.

M70 in the Laganside 10k near Belfast with a time of 46.14.


Four members travelled to Royden Park, Wirral, for the first of the

four-race off-road series, and enjoyed the multi-terrain course.

Marc Jones was 117th in 37.32, with Ann Claire Jones 212 in 42.31, Andy

Scott 293rd in 49.15 and Nicki Triggs 295th in 49.27.





 In addition to the club's prizewinners in the Cilcain fell-race reported

last week the names of Sophie Johnson and Reg Jonas were omitted. Sophie

took silver in the L45 class in both the North Wales and Welsh Short Course

championships and Reg was second M60 in the North Wales championships.
