Christmas Day festivities were put on hold by eight members of Prestatyn Running Club as they joined the larger-than-usual field for the Ruthin Parkrun on Christmas Day. It was worth the effort for Jamie Betts, who finished second and set a new pb. Then, three days later, he was the club’s first finisher in fourth place overall in the Nova Parkrun. In Prestatyn pbs were also recorded by Dafydd Montgomery and Cathy Wood, while another member with cause to celebrate was Linda Friar, as the event marked her comeback after a serious injury.

Five of the club’s ladies, including once again Julie Evans also forgot about the Christmas Day leftovers to run in the annual Round the Walls race in Chester. Visibility was very poor and the lap around the Roodee racecourse was pretty muddy. Their placings were: 249 Ann Claire Jones 36.15, 351 Cara Jones 40.17, 352 Helen Alefounder 40.18, 356 Debbie Jones 40.24, 490 Julie Evans 51.29.

On the Monday before Christmas a record number of members donned fancy-dress for the club’s annual fun-run around the town, and once again donations of cash and goods were received for the local foodbank.
