The Devil finds work for idle hands and when there are few races scheduled athletes find plenty of other events to occupy themselves.
The last weekend was unusually quiet but 29 members of Prestatyn Running Club sought out a variety of Parkruns to maintain their competitive edge.
Nineteen of them opted for “home ground” and the Nova Parkrun, where, for the first-ever, the club recorded a 1-2-3.
In blustery conditions Dave Ellis claimed his first victory with Jamie Betts second and Cam Askan third.
There was success, too, for Lisa Lines over in Bala, where she was the first lady finisher.
The placings at the nine different venues featuring Prestatyn members were:

Llangollen: 44 Glenda Roberts 28.07.
Conditions were pretty miserable for the Conwy fell-race on Saturday, with low cloud and slippery grass, and it didn’t help that someone had removed the marking tape between two of the checkpoints.
The five-mile race involved 500 metres of climbing, and attracted over 100 runners.
Sophie Johnson gained her revenge over Mandy Cartwright, who pipped her in the previous week’s race as the course seemed to suit her better.
Sophie finished 81st in 76.45, with Mandy three places behind in 81.23.
This Saturday ((10th)) sees the final fixture of the David Alun Williams North Wales Cross-Country League in Oswestry and a muddy finale is expected.
