The days of putting one’s feet up and gorging oneself over the Christmas break are a thing of the past for most members of Prestatyn Running Club and some even took the opportunity to get a couple of extra races under their belt.

Not only were their strong turnouts in those Parkruns which survived the icy conditions but a record 15 club members turned out in the Round the Walls race in Chester on Boxing Day.

David Ellis, Oliver Birch-Jones, Ann Claire Jones and Julie Evans were among those who completed a hat-trick of event in three days.

The Chester results were: 17 Danny Williams 24.27, 30 Oliver Birch-Jones 25.49, 36 Dave Ellis 25.59, 57 Marc Jones 28.05, 105 Judah Eastwell 30.33, 134 Zack Webster 31.39, 266 Philip Howarth 37.05, 289 Andy Scott 37.55, 336 Cara Jones 39.41, 344 Jo Lewis 39.57, 400 Ann Claire Jones 42.21, 401 Debbie Jones 42.21, 402 Helen Alefounder 42.22, 420 Karl Martin 43.14, 497 Julie Evans 54.46.

Twenty=seven members delayed the Christmas Day celebrations while they participated in Parkruns, 25 of them in the Nova event.

Their placings were: 6 Alex Ryder 19.57, 7 Jonathon Puleston-Jones 20.10, 11 Oliver Birch-Jones 20.52, 17 Dave Ellis 21.10, 19 David Hudd 21.17, 25 Darrell Jones 21.54, 27 Lewis Pierce 22.03, 31 Judah Eastwell 22.47, 22 Zack Webster 23.03, 44 Marc Jones 23.56, 46 Jenna Bagnall 24.01, 48 Paul Robson 24.03, 52 Eve Manifold 24.19, 58 Steve Weedman 24.40, 69 Amdy Thomas 25.48, 89 Will Lines 27.10, 90 Lisa Lines 27.10, 149 Rachel Jackson 29.39, 150 Claire Manifold 29.40 (pb), 151 Andy Scott 29.42, 185 Ann Claire Jones 31.17, 186 Helen Alefounder 31.18, 198 Debbie Weedman 32.02, 262 Linda Friar 38.24, 306 Julie Evans 58.20 (Tailwalker).

The Llandrillo-yn-Rhos Parkrun attracted a massive 620 competitors, Ben Garnett coming 19th overall in 19.28. Two days later he lined up in the Park in the Past run in Hope and finished 9th in 20.50.

Arwel Jones was the club’s sole representative in Ruthin and he celebrated the festive occasion with a pb of 24.11 and his highest ever age-grading.

With the Nova run cancelled on Saturday 12 members made the short journey to Greenfield Valley. The results were: 6 Dave Ellis 21.38, 16 Oliver Birch-Jones 23.26, 23 Steve Weedman 25.18, 41 Mark Dakeyne 28.29, 44 Philip Howarth 28.43, 62 Ann Claire Jones 30.53, 67 Cara Jones 31.32, 69 Nicki Triggs 31.43, 70 Ben Thomas 31.43, 84 Debbie Weedman 33.50, 97 Emma Birchall 36.57, 109 Julie Evans 43.33.
