Icy conditions almost led to the cancellation of Sunday’s Borders Road-Running League fixture at Connah’s Quay, but after a late inspection the 4.5-mile race got underway.
Thirty members of Prestatyn Running Club braved the elements and although several familiar faces were missing both the men and women performed well.
Once again there were some debutants in the red vest, with Katy Baugh the club’s first lady in her first race.
Gordon Jones and Emma Collins extended their unbeaten runs in their respective age-groups and Marc Jones had his best result yet, coming third in the highly competitive M60 class. The men’s team came third in Division 2 on the day and the ladies were third.

In his first ever race in 2023 he ran the Chester half-marathon in 1-29 but last week at Helsby he clocked 1-19.30, finishing in 60th place overall.
Marc Jones also had a very strong run, coming home 352nd in 95.01.
Twenty-four members turned out in the Nova Parkrun in which Leah Hughes was first lady home in her first-ever Parkrun.
There was another fine run by Dafydd Montgomery, who set yet another pb in finishing second overall.
The event marked a return to competitive action after five months out for supervet Mike Davis, who was chaperoned around the course by Nicki Triggs.
